A&M-Commerce Drops 77-47 Decision to Host East Central
East Central scored 14 of the first 18 points of the game en route to a 77-47 win over Texas A&M University-Commerce women’s basketball team on Wednesday night in Ada, Oklahoma.
A&M-Commerce (4-17, 1-8 LSC North) junior Mattilyn McIntyre was the top scorer for the eighth time on the season, scoring a team-high 17 points. Senior Ashley Murphy (pictured), who had 11 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds, joined her in double figures.
East Central (11-11, 3-6 LSC North) landed three in double figures including Jourdan Clark, who had a game-high 27 points. Krista Bullis and Indihra Ramirez had 11 and 10 points, respectively.
After getting behind by double digits, A&M-Commerce lowered the deficit to as little as seven when Murphy scored six-straight points midway through the opening half. East Central answered with 24 of the final 30 points of the first half for a 41-16 halftime advantage.
In the second half, ECU outscored A&M-Commerce by a 36 to 31 margin. 13 of the 31 points came from McIntyre as the Lions were able to cut the deficit as little as 23 on a pair of occasions.
The Lions next game will be on Saturday at 2 pm when they host Southeastern Oklahoma State at The Field House.
