Skylar Robertson and Bianca Stevenson Sign With Texas A&M University-Commerce
The Texas A&M
University-Commerce women's basketball coaching staff today
announced the signing of two key players from the Texarkana Liberty
Eylau 2010 state champion team as Skylar Robertson
and Bianca Stevenson will join the Lion
family.
Robertson has been a three-time all-district and all-area selection
for the Lady Leopards, plus co-MVP honors as a junior and senior.
As a senior, she averaged 14.9 points a game en route to leading
Texarkana-Liberty Eylau to the 3A state title in March. Robertson
scored in double figures in 31 of 34 games, including a season-high
25 against Longview.
Head Coach Nicole Anderson on Robertson: “Skylar
is an explosive and strong guard, who can play the point and
shooting guard positions. She is strong, tough and knowledgeable.
She also has the ability to score and create for others. She was
able to lead her high school team to a state championship and I am
confident that she will help guide our team to great
success.”
Stevenson has also been a three-time all-district selection,
including first team honors as a junior and senior. She led the
area in rebounding and scoring as a senior, en route to co-MVP
honors with Robertson, first team all-region and all-state
recognition. Stevenson has been selected to play in the TABC
All-Star Game on May 20-21 in San Antonio and the TGCA All-Star
Game in July.
Head Coach Nicole Anderson on Stevenson:
“Bianca will be a force in the paint. She has a
tremendous work ethic and is only going to get better. She runs the
floor well and takes up a tremendous amount of space in the paint.
She is the type of post player who wants the ball in crunch time
and knows how to win.”
“We are excited to have Bianca and Skylar join the Lion
family. We are looking forward to a long and prosperous career for
both of them,” said Anderson.
