Lion Athletics Volunteer at Northeast Texas Children's Museum Mother-Son Pirate Night
The Texas A&M University-Commerce women’s basketball team and members of the football team recently took part in The Northeast Texas Children’s Museum Mother-Son Pirate Night.
Boys from age three to those in the fifth grade, along with their mothers, attended the event. The student-athletes took part in organizing games and assisting with a treasure hunt throughout the night.
Head Women’s Basketball Coach Nicole Anderson said, “it is wonderful for our team to get in the community. It was exciting to meet many new friends and families in the community. It also gave me as well as our student-athletes a chance to meet and interact with other student-athletes in the athletic department. One of the goals of our program is to be in the community on a regular basis. It is important for us to spend time with the youth and their families of our community.”
The evening gives the boys
of the area a time to bond with their mothers. In the spring, the
museum will hold the annual Daddy-Daughter Dance.
