LIONS 2011-2012 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SEASON RECAP
The Lions had a rough start early in the season, but after a tough loss to West Texas (Jan. 4th), the Lion’s freshmen came together under the wing of sophomore forward Breanna Harris and sophomore guard Danielle Dixon, who led the Lions statistically all season. Harris dominated for the Lions with ten double-doubles, while notching 221 rebounds. Harris fell 8 points short of being the leading scorer to Danielle Dixon.

LIONS SINK THE RAMBELLES OF ANGELO STATE ON SENIOR NIGHT, 64-61
COMMERCE, Texas – In a final effort to walk off the Field House Court as winners, the Lions would come out victorious off a big last minute three pointer by Danielle Dixon in the closing seconds of the final game of the season. The Lions would end their seemingly endless season of bad luck with a strong win over Angelo State, 64-61.

LIONS EXPECTING A STRONG FINISH AGAINST WILDCATS, RAMBELLES
The Lions will be looking for a strong end to a tough season, beginning with the Wildcats of Abilene Christian who are currently on a three game winning streak. The Lions ended their last game against Abilene Christian with a dominating second half, but their slow first period landed them a loss, 77-65. Angelo State will be looking to end their 5 game tail spin against the Lions on February 25th. The Lions will have a massive home court advantage as the fans honor Apreia Booker and celebrate John McClendon Night.

LIONS DROP SEASON'S FINAL ROAD GAME TO ABILENE CHRISTIAN, 93-55
Another sluggish first half for the Lions cost them their final road game of the season. Danielle Dixon was a bright spot falling just one rebound short of a double-double in a tough 93-55 loss.

LIONS TAKE THE ZIAS OF EASTERN NEW MEXICO DOWN TO THE WIRE, 58-53
PORTALES, New Mexico – After falling into an early first half hole, the Lions fought the Zias down to the wire dropping another road game, 58-53. The Lions will have their final road game at the Moody Coliseum against the Wildcats of Abilene Christian.

LIONS SUFFER ANOTHER SECOND HALF LETDOWN AGAINST LADY BUFFS, 78-61
COMMERCE, Texas – The Lions suffer another loss to the Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M, after a big second half meltdown, 78-61. Breanna Harris kept the Lions in the game after a strong first half, but the Lady Buffs had a big 45 point second half performance shutting the Lions offense down.

LIONS SEEKING REDEMPTION AGAINST WEST TEXAS A&M, EASTERN NEW MEXICO
The Lions will be looking for some redemption against a West Texas team that is firing on all cylinders. The Lady Buffs dominated in their opening game against the Lions handing A&M-Commerce a hefty 110-37 loss. The Lions lost their longest winning streak against any Lone Star Conference opponent when Eastern New Mexico dropped the Lions earlier this season, 69-52.

A&M-COMMERCE FALLS FLAT AGAINST TEXAS WOMAN'S, 63-49
COMMERCE, Texas – The Lions have now extended their streak to 42 consecutive Lone Star Conference losses with the defeat from Texas Woman’s, 63-49. The Lions were plagued again by a slow first half being outscored 30-22. Unfortunately, the Lion surge fizzled away midway through the second half when the Lions lost momentum. The Lions will face their toughest adversary with the Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M, who handed the Lions a tough, 110-37 loss earlier this season in Canyon, Texas.

LIONS DEN TURNING INTO THE PINK ZONE, BATTLING PIONEERS SATURDAY
The Pioneers will be making the short trip from Denton, Texas to the Field House on Saturday, February 11 at 6:00 p.m. The Lions will be hosting a Pink Zone game in honor of breast cancer. This will not be a double header with the Men’s basketball team.

LIONS DROP THE BALL AGAINST A&M-KINGSVILLE JAVELINAS, 79-66
COMMERCE, Texas – The Lions watched their quest for the Lone Star Conference Championship drift away as they dropped a big home game to the Javelinas. The Lions had a monster second half against Kingsville when they played them on February 4th pushing them to brink, but the Lions fell in the closing second of the game, 75-72. The Lions will be back in action at the Field House on Saturday, February 11 at 6:00 PM against the Pioneers of Texas Woman’s.

LIONS DROP A HEART BREAKER TO THE JAVELINAS, 75-72
The Javelinas felt the pressure of the Lion offense as they chipped away their lead in the closing minutes of the game. The Javelinas would hold on and slightly edge out the Lions 75-72. The Lions will get their rematch on a big stage against the Javelinas on Monday, February 6th at 6:00 p.m. on Fox Sports Southwest.

LIONS STRUGGLE IN THE SECOND HALF AS THEY FALL TO THE CARDINALS, 65-47
Sophomore Forward Danielle Dixon had a huge night for the Lions knocking down 20 points, but after four first half lead changes, the Lions could not outlast the Cardinals second half surge falling 65-47.
The Lions now fall to 1-18 overall and 0-13 in the conference watching their chances for the LSC Conference Championship Tournament quickly drifting away. The Lions will get back-to-back opportunities when they take their longest trip of the season too A&M-Kingsville who is currently sitting at 4-14, and 3-10 in the LSC.

LIONS SUITED UP FOR BIG BATTLE WITH THE CARDINALS AND JAVELINAS
The Lions will be hosting the Cardinals at the Field House this coming Wednesday, February 1 at 6:00 PM in another Lions double header. The Lions already suffered a loss from Incarnate Word earlier this season (79-49), but the Lions younger players are coming around and looking to pull off a big win over the Cardinals. The Lions will then make their longest road trip of the season down to Kingsville, Texas where they will meet the Javelinas. These two teams have not met this season, but A&M-Kingsville has hit a bit of a hot streak going into the series posting a 2-1 record in their last 3 games.

LIONS MASSIVE SECOND HALF RALLY FALLS SHORT AGAINST THE AGGIES, 63-51
The Cameron Aggies survived the massive second half surge by the Lions off another huge Breanna Harris double-double. The Lions fell 63-51, but not before they gave the Aggies a huge second half hurdle. The Lions will stay at the Field House to host the Cardinals of Incarnate Word on February 1st at 6:00 PM.

LIONS TRIPPED UP AGAINST THE MUSTANGS, 74-58
The Lions fought all the way to the end and dropped a nail biter to number two in the conference Midwestern State, 74-58. Breanna Harris had another big night for the Lions knocking down 14 points and snatching 9 rebounds, only falling one rebound short of her eighth double-double of the season. The Lions will return home to host Cameron on Saturday, January 28th for their final meeting of the season at 6:00 PM.

LIONS LOOKING TO GET BACK ON TRACK AGAINST MUSTANGS, AGGIES
The Lions will first meet with the Mustangs of Midwestern State at the D.L Ligon Coliseum, where the Mustangs have proved to be a tough team to beat since they are 8-1 at home this season. The Mustangs have already handed the Lions a tough loss earlier this season, 81-44. The Cameron Aggies will be just a big wall too climb as well, posting an 12-4 record, and coming off a narrow loss to the Mustangs 65-58. The Aggies defeated the Lions once this season 68-52 after a back and forth battle all evening back on December 3rd.

LIONS FALL TO THE TEXANNS OF TARLETON STATE, 91-61
STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The Lions got their final shot of the season at redemption against the conference leaders Tarleton State but unfortunately couldn’t handle the TexAnn offense. Tarleton State had a convincing 89-61 win over the Lions Wednesday evening, and the Adamson sisters ensured another win for the TexAnns this evening.

LIONS WOES CONTINUE AGAINST CONFERENCE LEADER TARLETON STATE, 89-61
Commerce, Texas – The Lions got their chance for an upset against the Conference leading TexAnns of Tarleton State, but unfortunately, the TexAnns were not having an upset of any kind this evening. Another notorious slow start doomed the Lions as they fell back 9-0 in the first 2 minutes of the game. This is the first game this season that the Lions did not take the lead at any point in the contest.

LIONS GEAR UP FOR BACK-TO-BACK BATTLES AGAINST CONFERENCE LEADING TARLETON STATE
The Lions will be facing their biggest hurdle of the season in Tarleton State who is currently undefeated in conference play (8-0). A&M-Commerce will first host the LSC leading Tarleton State TexAnns at the Field House, and then make the journey to Stephenville to meet the TexAnns at Wisdom Gymnasium in back-to-back games. The Lions will be looking to break the TexAnns nine game winning streak.

HARRIS' DOUBLE-DOUBLE CAN'T SALVAGE A WIN OVER THE RAMBELLES, 61-50
Another slow start proves to be too much for the Lions to overcome. The Lions fell behind early and unfortunately could not dig themselves out of the hole before time ran out. Breanna Harris fueled a strong second half comeback, but it fell just short, giving the Rambelles a 61-50 victory.

LIONS STRONG SECOND HALF PUSH FALLS SHORT AGAINST THE WILDCATS, 77-65
The Lions got off to a slow start in the first period of the game which was just too much to overcome after a close second half battle. The Lions second half rush pushed the Wildcats to the brink but the Lions 29 fouls proved to be just too much to overcome. A&M-Commerce now falls to 1-12 overall and, 0-7 in the LSC. Abilene Christian also moves their current winning streak over the Lions to 3 games.

The Lions are looking to shake off a pair of conference losses, and get back into the conference race by hosting the Wildcats of Abilene Christian on Wednesday, January 11th 6:00 PM, and then making the long trek to San Angelo, Texas to take on the Rambelles on Saturday, January 14th at 5:30 PM.

SECOND HALF SURGE LEADS ZIAS TO 69-52 VICTORY OVER LIONS
A&M-Commerce and Eastern New Mexico battled through the first half, combining for 10 ties and 10 lead changes. But an early second-half run by the Zias helped Eastern New Mexico pull away, handing A&M-Commerce a 69-52 loss at the Field House.

A&M-COMMERCE ENTERS 2012 WITH A PAIR OF CONFERENCE MATCH-UPS
A&M-Commerce returns to action after a two-week break, entering the bulk of its Lone Star Conference schedule. The Lions head to Canyon, Texas, for a showdown with West Texas A&M Wednesday, January 4 at 6 p.m. A&M-Commerce then returns to the Field House, hosting Eastern New Mexico on Saturday, January 7 at 6 p.m.

A&M-COMMERCE ROUTED AT WEST TEXAS A&M, 110-37
Few things went right for A&M-Commerce in its first game of 2012 as the Lions never found their groove in a 110-37 loss to West Texas A&M at the First United Bank Center. The Lions drop to 1-10 on the season and 0-5 in Lone Star Conference play while the Lady Buffs improve to 8-4 overall and 6-0 in LSC action.

SECOND HALF RALLY COMES UP SHORT AS LIONS FALL TO NEWMAN, 73-59
Trailing big in the second half against Newman, A&M-Commerce made a furious late rally, pulling to within eight at 66-58 with just under four minutes to play. But the Lions couldn't cut the deficit any more, falling to the Jets 73-59 at the Field House.

A&M-Commerce returns from its 12-day Christmas break, returning to the Field House for a non-conference game against Newman Thursday, December 29 at 5:30. The game against the Jets marks the Lions’ final non-conference game of the 2011-12 season.

A&M-Commerce looked good early against Texas A&M International Saturday afternoon, but a Dustdevil surge in the second half proved to be too much for the Lions to handle as A&M-Commerce falls to A&M International 78-67 at Mountain View College in Dallas.

LIONS TAKE ON DUSTDEVILS AT MOUNTAIN VIEW COLLEGE SATURDAY
The Lions had their hands full these last two games facing off against a seasoned Incarnate Word team and the reigning champions Texas Woman’s University. The Lions had a tough game against Incarnate Word falling, 79-49. Breanna Harris and Danielle Dixon kept the Lions in the game generating more than half the team points (25). The Lions would then go to Denton, Texas to face an even tougher Texas Woman’s team and holding their own all evening. The Lions would give the Pioneers a run for their money pulling within 2 points with 8 minutes left in the game. Breanna Harris would highlight this night as well pulling in 17 rebounds and scoring 14 points for her third double-double with the Lions. A&M-Commerce would ultimately drop the game 72-58.

A&M-COMMERCE'S UPSET BID FALLS SHORT AT TEXAS WOMAN'S, 72-58
A&M-Commerce had reigning Lone Star Conference tournament champion Texas Woman’s on the ropes, trailing 51-49 with 12 minutes remaining in the game. But the Pioneers hit some clutch shots down the stretch, pulling away over the final eight minutes to defeat the Lions 72-58 at Kitty Magee Arena.

LIONS' DECEMBER 17TH GAME AGAINST A&M INTERNATIONAL MOVED TO MOUNTAIN VIEW COLLEGE
The A&M-Commerce women's basketball game against Texas A&M International on Saturday, December 17, has been moved to Mountain View College in south Dallas. A scheduling conflict with A&M-Commerce's fall commencement activities in the Field House forced the relocation.

HARRIS' SECOND CAREER DOUBLE-DOUBLE CAN'T STOP INCARNATE WORD, 79,49
The Lions continued their conference road trip to San Antonio, but suffered another tough loss to the Cardinals. The Lions were battling in the beginning of the game, but by the end of the first period the Cardinals started to pull away. Incarnate Word turned on the burners in the second period dropping 41 points and holding the Lions to only 22 points. The Lions will continue their road trip to Denton to take on another tough test in Texas Woman’s University on Tuesday December 13th at 7:00 p.m.

The Lions are on the road for the upcoming games against Incarnate word and Texas Woman’s University. LIONS ROAD TRIP WOES CONTINUE AGAINST THE AGGIES OF CAMERON, 68-52
The Lions came up short on their second road game of the season against Cameron University, 68-52. The Lions fell behind early in the game and just never seemed to be able to catch up. Sophomore guard Danielle Dixon kept the Lions in the game by scoring a team high of 16 points, but it just wasn’t enough.

The Lions had a tough evening dealing with the relentless offense of the Mustangs. Midwestern State outscored the Lions 40-16 in the first half of the game, and did not allow the Lions breathing room dropping another 41 points in the second half defeating the Lions 81 to 44.

LIONS OPEN UP CONFERENCE PLAY AGAINST MIDWESTERN STATE MUSTANGS
The Lions will face off against Midwestern State, who is currently on a 2 game winning streak. The Mustangs are currently 3-2 and are coming off of 8 days of rest from the break. Midwestern State’s biggest win of the season came against #8 in the nation Washburn to begin their winning streak . Cameron is currently 2-1, but they returned most of their team from last season. Last season Cameron posted an impressive 13-15 record with a considerably young team. The Aggies returned 3 previous starters from last season.

HARRIS' DOUBLE-DOUBLE LEADS LIONS TO 73-66 VICTORY OVER MARAUDERS
A&M-Commerce came out firing on all cylinders and quickly put the pressure on the Marauders, by outscoring them 36 to 28 in the first period. Central State turned up the intensity in the second half and tried to make the Lions play their game, but A&M-Commerce continued to dominate. The Lions were slightly feeling the pressure in the last minute of the game when the Lions were barely winning 68-66. The Lions would come together and shut down the Marauder offense not allowing the Marauders to catch up resulting in a 73-66 defeat of Central State.

LIONS CONTINUE NON-CONFERENCE PLAY AGAINST OUACHITA BAPTIST
A&M-Commerce has begun their season playing against non-conference Southeastern Oklahoma and Henderson State. The Lions were tied with Southeastern Oklahoma with 2:35 left in the game until a late push by the Savage Storm ended up neglecting the Lions their first victory. The Lions returned home to face off against Henderson State who was coming off a big win with first year coach Chris Oestreich. The Lions had a tough time stopping the Reddies shooting in general. The Reddies kept the pressure on the entire game by hitting 50% of their shots. A&M-Commerce struggled to keep up with the speed of the Reddies and suffered a 71-48 loss. The Lions are continuing their non-conference play against the Lady Tigers of Oauchita Baptist, and the Central State Marauders.

LIONS NON-CONFERENCE WOES CONTINUE AGAINST OUACHITA BAPTIST, 89-67
Freshman guard Devin Oliver’s break out night couldn’t stop the Lady Tigers trip to the Field house as the Lion’s fall 67-89. Oliver scored a team high of 17, and was followed by starting freshman guard Ashlee Johnson who dropped 14 points in her first collegiate start for the Lions. This is the third non-conference game that the Lions have dropped this season moving their record to 0-3.

A&M-COMMERCE DROPS HOME OPENER TO HENDERSON STATE, 71-48
The Lions had a tough time trying to figure out how to defeat the Reddies of Henderson State. The Reddies proved to be a tough challenge dropping 36 points on the Lions in the first period of the game, and keeping A&M-Commerce to a lonely 22 points. The Lion’s would come out strong, but the Reddies just broke away late in the second period for a 71-48 win.

LIONS' BIG SECOND HALF RALLY COMES UP SHORT AT SAVAGE STORM, 85-82
The Lions dropped a tough game to Southeastern Oklahoma University in their season opener. A&M-Commerce was down 44-32 after the first period of the game, and came roaring back and controlled the second half of the game. The Lions would ultimately fall short of the Savage Storm 85-82.

A&M-Commerce is looking to get their season off the right start by taking a win on the road against non-conference Southeastern Oklahoma. They will then return home for their home opener against non-conference Henderson State.

A&M-Commerce was picked 10th in the Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll, announced today by league officials. The poll was announced in conjunction with the conference's Online Basketball Media Day.
