A&M-COMMERCE ANNOUNCES 2011-12 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SCHEDULE
Complete 2011-12 A&M-Commerce Women's Basketball Schedule
COMMERCE, Texas – Texas A&M University-Commerce head women’s basketball coach Nicole Anderson today announced the Lions' 2011-12 schedule. A&M-Commerce will play a total of 26 regular season games scheduled in 2011-12, 14 of which will take place at the Field House.
“I am looking forward to a productive year,” said Coach Anderson. “We will be in great shape and be competitive this season. With the core of returners and the addition of the newcomers to the team we will be explosive and successful.”
A&M-Commerce opens up the 2011 season with an away contest against Southeastern Oklahoma on Tuesday Nov. 15th, the first of four consecutive non-conference games to open up the season. The Lions open up a four-game home stand at the Field House, beginning with Henderson State on Nov. 18th, followed by Quachita Baptist (Nov. 21st), Central State (Nov. 26th) and Midwestern State (Nov. 30th). They will go on a two game road trip facing Cameron (Dec. 3rd) and University of Incarnate Word (Dec. 7th).
The Lions will wrap up their road trip and return home for a home contest against a non- conference A&M-International, and immediately get back on the road to go on a short road trip to Denton, Texas to face off against Texas Woman’s University on Dec. 17th at 6:00 p.m. The Lions will then get a short hiatus due to winter break but return to the Field House on December 29th to play a non-conference game against Newman University.
Coach Anderson will then head to Canyon, Texas to face Coach Krista Gerlich’s West Texas A&M Lady Buffs. The Lions will get a home stand of two games first meeting Eastern New Mexico on the court January 7th, and then continuing on to battle Abilene Christian on January 11th.
The Lions will have their final three games at the Field house starting on February 6th and finishing on Wednesday February 15th. The Lions will take to the road for their final two away games against Eastern New Mexico on Saturday February 18th, and Abilene Christian on Tuesday February 21st.
The Lions will come home to the Field House for their big finale of the regular season on Saturday Feb. 25th to play against Angelo State. This will close out the season for the Lions and Coach Anderson.
“The conference obviously is already tough and will be extremely competitive due to playing the same teams twice,” Said Coach Anderson. “The schedule will make it hard to declare a front runner, but we will compete and it will help determine a true conference champion.”
