LIONS' BIG SECOND HALF RALLY COMES UP SHORT AT SAVAGE STORM, 85-82

The Lions dropped a tough game to Southeastern Oklahoma University in their season opener. A&M-Commerce was down 44-32 after the first half of the game, and came roaring back and controlled the second half of the game. The Lions would ultimately fall short of the Savage Storm 85-82.

A&M-Commerce's offense came to life in the second half, off of the strong effort of returning sophomore guard Danielle Dixon who scored 17 points. Freshmen guard Devin Oliver chipped in scoring 13 points in her first collegiate game for the Lions. Sophomore forward Breanna Harris who transferred to the Lions this year also provided a spark for Lion's offense, contributing a solid 13 points and grabbing 5 rebounds. 

The Lions were outshot by the Savage Storm in every category except free throws; A&M-Commerce would outshoot the Savage Storm 79% to 68% in free throws. The Lions dominated the boards snatching 44 total rebounds to the Savage Storms 28. Sophomore Guard Kaniesha Flournoy led the pack with 6 rebounds in her second season of play. Freshman forward La'Tisha Hearne made an impression in her first career game by getting 5 rebounds for the Lions.

A&M-Commerce will begin a 4 game home stand starting with the Reddies of Henderson State. The first home game will be hosted this upcoming Friday at 6:00 PM against Henderson State. The Reddies are coming off of a big season opening win over LeTourneua 73-45. The Lions will then meet the Ouachita Baptist for another non-conference game Monday, November 21st at 6:00 PM.
