HARRIS' DOUBLE-DOUBLE LEADS LIONS TO 73-66 VICTORY OVER MARAUDERS

A&M-Commerce came out firing on all cylinders and quickly put the pressure on the Marauders, by outscoring them 36 to 28 in the first period. Central State turned up the intensity in the second half and tried to make the Lions play their game, but A&M-Commerce continued to dominate. The Lions were slightly feeling the pressure in the last minute of the game when the Lions were barely winning 68-66. The Lions would come together and shut down the Marauder offense not allowing the Marauders to catch up resulting in a 73-66 defeat of Central State.

The Lion charge was led by a double-double by sophomore forward Breanna Harris who notched 12 rebounds and 13 points. A&M-Commerce shared the wealth though with four other Lions scoring double digit points. Freshman guard Devin Oliver had a big afternoon for the Lions snatching 7 rebounds and scoring 11 points. Senior forward Apreia Booker was dominating in the first half scoring 8 points, but topped out at only 10 points on the afternoon for the Lions.

Sophomore forward Bianca Stevenson came off the bench for the Lions scoring 11 points and nabbing 7 rebounds giving her another dominating performance. Sophomore guard Danielle Dixon knocked down a total of 16 points making her the leading scoring again, for the third time this season. Freshman guard Ashlee Johnson has worked her way into a starting spot for the Lions, and was the silent hero for the Lions notching 8 assists and drawing fouls for A&M-Commerce all afternoon.

A&M-Commerce crashed the boards and nabbed a total of 30 rebounds to the Marauders 17 in the first half of the game. The Lions domination of the boards continued well into the second half amassing a grand total of 55 rebounds on the afternoon, while leaving Central State with only 35 total rebounds.

Breanna Harris led A&M-Commerce in rebounds snatching, 5 offensive rebounds and 7 defensive rebounds giving her 12 for the Lions. Both Bianca Steveson and Devin Oliver had 5 defensive rebounds and both ended up with 7 total rebounds apiece for the Lions.

The Lions have finished their non-conference play with, and will be looking forward to their first conference battle against Midwestern State on Wednesday Nov. 30th at 6:00 PM.  The Lady Lions will be coming off their first win of their season over Central State. The Lions will be looking to ride this hot handed team into their first double header home game. Midwestern State on the other hand is currently riding a 2 game winning streak starting with defeating #11 in the nation Washburn. The Mustangs will be on 8 days rest when they play against the Lions. A&M-Commerce after that will take to the road to face off against conference rival Cameron on Saturday, December 3rd at 2:00 PM.
