COMMERCE, Texas -- A&M-Commerce and Eastern New Mexico battled through the first half, combining for 10 ties and 10 lead changes. But an early second-half run by the Zias helped Eastern New Mexico pull away, handing A&M-Commerce a 69-52 loss at the Field House. The Zias broke a 5 game losing streak against the Lions with this win.

After being held scoreless in the first half, Danielle Dixon caught fire in the second, recording all 14 of her points in the second stanza with five assists. Breanna Harris recorded her fifth double-double of the season, notching 11 points and 13 rebounds, including five offensive to lead the Lions.

La'Tisha Hearne finished with 10 points for A&M-Commerce, recording it all in the first half, while adding five rebounds. Devin Oliver also came on strong, finishing with 10 points and three assists for A&M-Commerce. Bianca Stevenson also was solid in the paint, recording 10 rebounds while adding seven points.

The Lions unfortunately let the Zias go on a 7 minute 20 point unanswered run in the beginning of the second period making it 50-30, and left the Lions with only 13 minutes in the game. The Lion offense would attempt to play catch up off the Danielle Dixon 14 point second half surge but would ultimately fall short.

Kiara Tate and Precious Herrin led the Zias by both scoring 17 points apiece. Jasmine Johnson helped the Zias control the boards by snatching the team high of 8 rebounds. The Zias hit an impressive 78.3% of their free throws going 18-23. The Eastern New Mexico bench also posed a problem by outscoring the Lion's bench 17-10. Reavis Best led the charge scoring 7 points off the bench and grabbing 3 rebounds for the Zias.

With this loss to the Zias, the Lions now fall to 1-10 overall and 1-5 in the Lone Star Conference. The Lions will remain home and welcome the Wildcats of Abilene Christian on Wednesday January 11th at 6:00 PM. This will be the first time these two teams meet for the season, and Abilene will be coming off a close loss to Texas A&M Kingsville, 78-72.
