COMMERCE, Texas -- A&M-Commerce junior forward Breanna Harris has been named the Lone Star Conference Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week, announced today by league officials. It marks the first LSC weekly honor of Harris' career as Midwestern State's Andrea Carter was named the Defensive Player of the Week.
Harris was practically unstoppable in A&M-Commerce's 76-57 season-opening victory over Southern Arkansas on November 14, finishing with a career-best 30 points with 15 rebounds against the Muleriders. Harris had notched a double-double by halftime, recording 22 points and 10 rebounds at intermission, single handedly outscoring Southern Arkansas 22-20 in the first half.
Harris continued to dominate the paint for the Lions in the second half, scoring eight points and finishing with five more rebounds before watching the final minutes of the game from the bench. 10 of Harris' 15 rebounds were offensive as she finished the game hitting 9-of-16 shots from the floor and going 12-for-15 from the free throw line, helping A&M-Commerce to its largest margin of victory since a 92-66 win at Cameron in 2009.
A&M-Commerce looks to extend its winning streak to three games, dating back to the end of the 2011-12 season, when it hosts Southeastern Oklahoma State at the Field House this Saturday, November 24th at 2 p.m.
