Lions Finish Eighth at DBU Classic
The Texas A&M University-Commerce women's golf team finished in eighth place at the DBU Classic, shooting a two-day total of 663 (329-334).
No. 4 Tarleton State took home the
team title in convincing fashion by 31 strokes over its nearest
competitor with a two-day total of 588 (294-249). The TexAnns had
five golfers among the top eight individual finishers. Raelyn
Smith of Angelo State was the individual winner after shooting a
3-under par 141 (70-71).
A&M-Commerce junior Heather Pantalion
(pictured) was the top finisher for the Lions after
posting a 36-hole total of 156 (73-83) in a tie for 11th. The next
three Lions were separated by a stroke each.
Sophomore Megan Benites, who shot a 168 (85-83),
tied for 38th and senior Jamie Gililland lowered
her opening round score by five strokes with a two-day total of 169
(87-82) for 40th-place honors.
Next, tying for 41st was sophomore Kathleen May in
her A&M-Commerce debut with a 170 (84-86). Senior Ali
Tanner shot a two-day total of 174 (87-87) and tied for
54th place.
The Lions will play in two more tournaments for the remainder of
its fall schedule, starting with the Broncho Masters Fall Classic
at the Fairfax Golf Club in Edmond, Oklahoma on Monday, October
6th.
