Three Lions in the Top 20 following Opening Round of Lion Invitational

junior Mallory Kempf (pictured) shot
an 82, including two birdies, to lead the Lions in Monday's opening
round of the Lion Invitational at the Tanglewood Golf Resort &
Spa in Pottsboro, Texas.
The Pflugerville, Texas native is one of three A&M-Commerce
golfers in the top 20 as the Lions are currently in fifth place
with a team score of 334.
Angelo State leads the 17-team field with a 13-stroke advantage
over Incarnate Word and Newman University, who are both tied for
second.
Individual co-leader Raelyn Smith with a four-over 76 leads the
Rambelles. She shares the individual lead with Kylee Johnson of
Cameron and Jacki Marshall of Tyler Junior College for a one-stroke
lead over their closest competitor.
Joining Kempf in the top 20 are senior Heather
Pantalion and sophomore Malonie Oats, who
both shot an 83 and are tied for 17th.
Juniors Kathleen May and Megan
Benites are tied for 36th after posting an 86. As an
individual, senior Noelle Garcia is tied for 80
with a 98.
The Lions lead the field with six birdies and its 10-over par play
on par 5 holes.
Tuesday's final round will get under way at 8:30 a.m. with a
shotgun start.
