Lions are 6th After Opening Day of Midwestern State Invitational
The Texas A&M
University-Commerce women’s golf team is in sixth place after
posting a 332 in Monday’s opening round of the Midwestern
State Invitational. A&M-Commerce trails leader UCO lead by 11
strokes as five strokes separate the top five places.
The Bronchos are led by co-leader Erica Bensch, who shot a 4-over
par 76 to share the lead with Carol Blanton of East Central. As a
team, the Lions rank second in par 3 scoring with eight-over par
play.
Senior Heather Pantalion is tied for 15th to lead
the Lions with an 82. Sophomore Malonie Oats
(pictured) and junior Kathleen May
are tied for 20th after posting an 83. During the round, Oats was
one of the top players in the field with two birdies.
A stroke back behind them is junior Megan Benites,
who posted an 84 and is tied for 27th. Junior Mallory
Kempf is tied for 57th after shooting a 93.
The Lions and the field will return to the Weeks Park Golf Course
for Tuesday’s final round as A&M-Commerce will tee off at
8:30 a.m.
