Pantalion Leads A&M-Commerce To Ninth-Place After Day One of LSC Championships

At the 2010 Lone Star Conference Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships on Sunday rain delayed the action by an hour at the WinStar Golf Course in Thackerville, Oklahoma.

After the first 18 holes, the Texas A&M University-Commerce women’s golf team is in ninth place. Senior Heather Pantalion (pictured) is tied for 11th after shooting an eight-over par 80 to lead the Lions.

The Pflugerville, Texas native trails individual leader Cassy Knight of Central Oklahoma, who shot a two-over 74, by eight strokes. She shares 11th-place honors with Krista Czarnecki of Angelo State and Andrea Lowe of Tarleton State.

West Texas A&M leads the team competition with a 318 for a three-stroke advantage over Tarleton State and Northeastern State.

Three strokes separate the remainder of the A&M-Commerce lineup. Junior Kathleen May is tied for 42nd after shooting a 90, junior Mallory Kempf is tied for 44th after posting a 91. Junior Megan Benites is tied for 47th with a 92 and sophomore Malonie Oats is 49th with a 93.

The Lions will tee off its second round on Monday at 8 a.m.
