Lions' Ninth Following Day Two of the LSC Championships

After the first 36 holes of the 2010 Lone Star Conference Championships, the Texas A&M University-Commerce women's golf team is in ninth place.

A&M-Commerce made a 26-shot improvement on Tuesday as they shot a second round 327 for a 36-hole total of 680 (353-327).

The Lions were led by the 13-stroke improvement by sophomore Malonie Oats (pictured), who shot an 80. The Cooper, Texas native is tied for 42nd with junior teammates Megan Benites and Mallory Kempf. Benites lowered her round by 11 strokes and Kempf cut her score down by nine. Leading the Lions is senior Heather Pantalion, who is tied for 31st with a 164 (80-84). Junior Kathleen May is tied for 46th with a 175 (90-85).

Tarleton State moved into the team lead with a second round 293 and 36-hole total of 614 (321-293). The TexAnns lead first day leader West Texas A&M by a stroke with a 615 (318-297) and three strokes over Angelo State (322-295).

Raelyn Smith of Angelo State is the individual leader after shooting a four-under 68 on Tuesday and 36-hole total of 145 (77-68). Smith leads Cassy Knight of Central Oklahoma by a stroke with a 146 (74-72).

The Lions will tee off its final round at 10:42 a.m. on Wednesday.
