A&M-Commerce Women's Golf Finishes 10th at Oklahoma Intercollegiate
The Texas A&M
University-Commerce women’s golf team wrapped up play on
Tuesday at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate, finishing
10th.
Chelsea McCoy led the Lions, who used an
all-freshman lineup for a second-straight tourney, tied for
11th with a 153 (77-76). Chantry
McMahan lowered her score by four strokes in the final
round with a 77 and 36-hole total of 158 (81-77) to finish tied for
30th. Kaley Jackson posted a 36-hole total of 165
(83-82) to finish tied for 53rd.
Making the most significant improvement was Sara Diaz, who lowered her score by seven strokes with an 80 for a 36-hole total of 167 (87-80) and tied for 59th. Teammate Haley Green shot a 36-hole total of 195 and tied for 74th.
Other Lions, who were playing as an individuals, freshmen Holly Jenkins and Katelin Walker tied for 68th with a 172; plus senior Megan Benites finished 82nd with a 180 (87-93).
Tarleton State won the team title by 16 strokes over Northeastern State after shooting a final round 288 and 36-hole total of 592 (304-288). Kelsay Kirkpatrick of Northeastern State shot a 2-under 70 in the final round for an even par 144 (74-70) for the individual title to edge teammate Whitney McAtter by one stroke.
The tournament wraps up the fall schedule for A&M-Commerce.
