Lions Fall to No. 4 UC-San Diego, 4-0
The Texas A&M University-Commerce women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 4 UC-San Diego on Saturday night.
The Tritons (3-0-1) scored twice in each half and outshot the Lions (2-1-1) by a 17-7 margin in the win.
UC-San Diego got on the board in the 22nd minute on a Amanda Esquivel goal and Alexia Zatarain extended the margin to 2-0 in the 27th minute. A&M-Commerce sophomore Chelsey Haight had a pair of opportunities in the first half that were saved by Tritons' goalkeeper Jessica McGovern. Haight led the A&M-Commerce attack with four shots.
The Tritons extended its lead to 4-0 when they scored twice within 27 seconds on goals by Lisa Bradley at 48:27 and 48:54, respectively.
A&M-Commerce returns home for its next two matches, starting with a contest against Harding on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the A&M-Commerce Soccer Complex.
