The Lions (3-1-1) rebounded from a 4-0 loss to No. 4 UC-San Diego on Saturday for the convincing win over the Lady Bison. After a goal by senior Melissa DoRemus in the third minute of the match, the Mesquite, Texas native found herself as a constant threat to the Harding defensive attack.
DoRemus got the Lions on the board with the first shot by A&M-Commerce, scoring after a flick pass from Lacy Alexander and Lasley that she capitalized with a shot to the bottom left of the goal for the early advantage.
Lasley and the Lions attack
continued to challenge the Harding defense as their first four
shots all went for goals. She scored her first of three goals
when she broke through the Harding defense for a 1-on-1
goal to the lower right of the box. Nearly 10 minutes
later, she took a long pass from freshman Jordan
McCarty and fired it down the center of the goal past
the Harding goalkeeper. Lasley completed the hat trick effort in
the 40th minute on another breakway goal when she took a flick pass
from Alexander to the bottom right of the goal for the 4-0
advantage for the Lions.
With Lasley providing the
offensive attack, junior goalkeeper Taylor Jordan
recorded her second shutout of the season with nine saves in the
win for A&M-Commerce. The hat trick by Lasley is the
first since by then freshman Melissa DoRemus scored three in a 10-0
rout of East Central on October 9, 2005.
A&M-Commerce will remain home
for its next match when they face St. Mary's (0-3) on Saturday at
12 noon and the Lions remain at No. 7 in the latest
NSCAA/adidas South Central rankings.
