Evan Stanberry Named Lone Star Conference Defender of the Week

Thursday was named the Lone Star Conference Defender of the Week.
The rookie from Frisco, Texas was responsible for marking top
offensive threats for St. Edward’s and McNeese State in the
Lions’ two wins, last week.
Against St. Edward’s, she was matched up against Stacy
Copeland and held her to four shots. Against McNeese State, she was
responsible for Kamryn Koch, who had been involved in 13 of the 14
Cowgirls’ goals in 2008. Koch was kept off the scoreboard in
the Lions’ 2-0 win.
Stanberry and the Lions will begin Lone Star Conference play on
Friday at 4 pm against Southwestern Oklahoma State at the
A&M-Commerce Soccer Field.
