Haight Scores Game-Winning Goal in Lions' 2-1 Win Over Midwestern State

Texas A&M University-Commerce sophomore Chelsey Haight ran down a long ball over the visiting Midwestern State defense and lobbed it into the center of the net for the game-winning goal in a 2-1 overtime win on Friday afternoon.
A&M-Commerce (8-2-1, 2-1 LSC) got the game-winning goal in the second extra stanza after battling to a 1-1 tie through 90 minutes of regulation and an additional 10 minutes of the first overtime.
Midwestern State (6-5, 1-2 LSC) was the first to get on the scoreboard when Kelsey Hill fired a shot that bounced off teammate Kendra Clemons in the 57th minute for the early advantage.
The Lions got the equalizer when freshman Emma Stubblefield fired a shot after it bounced off Midwestern State goalkeeper Heather Primavera in the 69th minute.
The two teams combined for 42 shots in 106:40 of action with MSU outshooting A&M-Commerce by a 22-to-20 margin. Clemons and Haight shared in game-high honors with five shots apiece as well as the Lions' goalkeeper Taylor Jordan made eight saves and Primavera recorded five for the Mustangs.
A&M-Commerce will be on the road for its next three matches, starting with a contest on Tuesday at Texas Woman's at 4 p.m. in Denton. After the three-match road swing, the Lions will host its final two regular season contests against Abilene Christian (Oct. 24) and Angelo State (Oct. 26).
