Meagan Lasley and Evan Stanberry Named Lone Star Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, Respectively
Junior Meagan
Lasley and freshman Evan Stanberry were
named the Lone Star Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of
the Week, respectively on Wednesday.
Last week, Lasley became the first player in school history to
record three hat tricks in a season when she scored three times in
the Lions' 3-1 win over Eastern New Mexico, last Friday (Oct. 17).
She also had four shots in the win over No. 22 West Texas A&M.
With the three-goal effort, Lasley moved into fourth place all-time
in school history in career points with 71.
Stanberry, an aggressive on-the-ball defender, played an integral
part of the two wins over the Zias and the Lady Buffs. Stanberry
and A&M-Commerce held two of the conference's top scoring
threats - Samantha Lawrence of Eastern New Mexico to six shots and
a goal and Elisabeth Markussen of West Texas A&M without a
shot.
Also, in soccer news, in the first NCAA regional rankings, the
Texas A&M University-Commerce women's soccer team is No.
4 behind Central Missouri (No. 1), Truman (No. 2), Washburn (No.
3).
The Lions are back in action for its last two regular season home
contests this Friday against Abilene Christian (3 p.m.) and Sunday
against Angelo State (12 noon).
