Lions Tie Northeastern State, 1-1

The No. 22 Texas A&M University-Commerce women's soccer team recorded a 1-1 tie against host Northeastern State on Thursday afternoon in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.  It is the second-straight tie for the Lions, who tied Texas Woman's (0-0) on Tuesday afternoon.

"We did everything right for the second game in a row - except for score," said head coach Neil Piper.

In the tie, the Lions (12-2-3, 6-1-2 LSC) out shot the RiverHawks by a 24-to-8 margin including a 13-4 margin in the final 65 minutes. NSU (6-7-4, 3-3-3 LSC) got on the board first when Brittany Nolan converted on a 30-yard free kick that bounced into the goal.

A&M-Commerce junior Meagan Lasley got the equalizer with her 17th goal of the season, following a corner kick from junior Sarah Reed at the 84:27 mark.

The Lions had a pair of chances to win the contest. In the first 10-minute extra session, a shot by Lions' senior Melissa DoRemus was saved by NSU goalkeeper Patricia Nardy, who also came up with one of her nine saves in the 102nd minute on another shot by Lasley.

Lasley finished the contest with a match-high six shots, including four on goal. The RiverHawks had eight shots, including seven on goal on A&M-Commerce goalkeepers Taylor Jordan and Randi Hafele. Jordan and Hafele made six saves in the contest. The contest featured 34 fouls and eight corner kicks.

The Lions will close out the regular season on Sunday with a 2 p.m. match against East Central in Ada, Oklahoma.
