Lions Earn Multiple Honors from the Lone Star Conference
With a runner up finish in the regular season, eight members of the Texas A&M University-Commerce women's soccer team were named to the all-Lone Star Conference teams on Thursday. Two were also selected to the Lone Star Conference All-Academic Team and two more were named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll for their academic achievements.
The Lions and Midwestern State each had eight players on the all-LSC teams. Junior forward Meagan Lasley and senior midfielder Melissa DoRemus were named to the first team.
Three Lions were selected to the second team including junior Sarah Reed and freshman Evan Stanberry as defenders as well as sophomore forward Chelsey Haight.
Junior forward Lacy Alexander, junior midfielder Whitney Hancock and junior goalkeeper Taylor Jordan were named honorable mention.
Alexander and DoRemus were named to the Lone Star Conference All-Academic Team. The Lions, Texas Woman's, Angelo State and Central Oklahoma each had a league-leading two selections and representatives Northeastern State, Eastern New Mexico and Abilene Christian joined them.
In addition, sophomore Alex Germain and junior Jennifer Alvarado were named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll.
The Lions return to action on
Friday in the semifinals of the Lone Star Conference Tournament at
12 noon against Midwestern State in Canyon, Texas. Earlier this
year, the Lions defeated Midwestern State, 2-1, in Commerce.
