Lions Fall to West Texas A&M, 1-0, in LSC Championship Game

The top scoring tandem in the Lone Star Conference led host and No. 1 seed West Texas A&M to a 1-0 win in the championship game of the Lone Star Conference Soccer Tournament on Sunday afternoon.

Freshman Lindsay McHorse went to the lower right corner of the goal from 18 yards out in the 99th minute of overtime for the game-winning goal on a pass from Elisabeth Marksus. McHorse and Marskus are the top scoring duo in the Lone Star Conference with 77 points.

A&M-Commerce (14-3-3) junior goalkeeper Taylor Jordan (picture by Danny Kambel) had eight saves as the Lions were out shot by a 16 to 6 margin. It is only the third time on the season an opponent has out shot the Lions.

West Texas A&M (16-3-1) repeats as the Lone Star Conference Tournament champion and also secures an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with the win.
