Lions Ranked No. 22 in NSCAA Pre-season Poll
The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) released its annual pre-season poll on Tuesday; the Texas A&M University-Commerce women's soccer team is ranked No. 22.
The Lions are coming off a 16-4-3 season in 2008, where they advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. A&M-Commerce returns 16 letterwinners and nine starters including senior NSCAA All-Americans Taylor Jordan (pictured) and Meagan Lasley. Also among the returnees are second team all-Lone Star Conference selections sophomore Evan Stanberry and junior Chelsey Haight as well as honorable mention all-LSC honorees seniors Lacy Alexander and Whitney Hancock.
Also ranked in the poll is Lions' opponent Central Missouri at No. 14, who A&M-Commerce defeated in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Jennies and the Lions will play on Sunday, September 6th at 1:30 pm at the A&M-Commerce Soccer Field. The first NSCAA weekly poll will be announced on August 28th.
A&M-Commerce begins the 2009 season in
Greenville, Tennessee, as they will take on Mars Hill on Friday,
August 28th at 5 p.m.
