Lions edge Pioneers, 1-0
Texas A&M University-Commerce sophomore Devon Herrman netted the games only goal in the first half to help the Lions edge the Texas Woman's Pioneers, 1-0, on Tuesday night at the A&M-Commerce Soccer Field.
A&M-Commerce improves to 6-3 for the season while TWU drops to 2-6.
Both teams went back and forth early in the first half before Herrman broke loose down the middle of the field for her sixth goal of the year at the 26:39 mark. She lined the shot past a diving Nori Morgan into the right side of the net.
Senior goalkeeper Taylor Jordan notched her third shutout of the year with six saves for A&M-Commerce, which has kept their opponents off the scoreboard five times this season.
TWU totaled eight shots as Amanda Allen led the way with three shots on goal. The Lions countered with 12 shots, inlcuding seven on goal.
A&M-Commerce returns to action on Sunday against Midwestern State at 3:30 p.m. in Wichita Falls.
