A&M-Commerce Drops 3-0 Decision to West Texas A&M
A goal in the fourth minute and two more in the second half led West Texas A&M to a 3-0 victory over Texas A&M University-Commerce on Saturday night at the A&M-Commerce Soccer Field.
West Texas A&M (9-1-1, 3-1 LSC) got on the board first when Melissa Carrnero scored an unassisted goal that was deflected by the A&M-Commerce goalkeeper that she put in the left corner. Lady Buffs goalkeepers Kelly Skehan and Korey Schroeder combined to make five saves for the shutout.
Texas A&M-Commerce (6-5, 1-2 LSC) was out shot by the Lady Buffs by a 12-to-11 margin in the defeat. Freshman Haley Mull paced the Lions attack with three shots.
WT extended its lead in the second half when Miriam Dominguez found the back of the net in the 54th minute. Dominguez scored when her shot deflected off the Lions goalkeeper and she kicked it in. For the final goal, Lindsay McHorse took a pass from Melanie Shannon and fired a shot to the right corner in the 67th minute.
The Lions will return to action
on Monday at noon against Eastern New Mexico at the
A&M-Commerce Soccer Field.
