Meagan Lasley Scores Twice and Assists on Two More in 5-0 Win Over East Central

Senior Meagan Lasley closed out the home portion of the regular season with her second straight multi-goal game to lead Texas A&M University-Commerce to a 5-0 win over East Central on Tuesday at Memorial Stadium.

Texas A&M-Commerce (10-5-1, 5-2-1 LSC) got two goals and two assists from the Mesquite, Texas native in the win. The senior had seven shots to equal the offensive output of their opponent.

East Central (5-7-2, 3-5 LSC) nearly got on the board six minutes into the contest but an offsides call negated an early opportunity for the Tigers. Goalkeeper Natalie Wilson made eight saves on 19 shots by the Lions.

The Lions struck first when sophomore Devon Herrman headed in her seventh goal of the season on a crossing pass from Lasley to the bottom side of the ECU goal in the ninth minute. Lasley added to the Lions lead late in the opening half when she took a free kick from junior Megan Monroe that bounced inside the box that she fired to the lower right of the next.

In the second half, Lasley had her hand in another goal when she found junior Chelsey Haight for her seventh goal of the season when she took a breakaway to the top left of the goal. Again, Lasley was involved in the next A&M-Commerce goal as she navigated thru ECU defenders throughout the last 40 yards of the field before finding the back of the net to put the Lions up 4-0.

An attempt by a hat trick for Lasley came on a penalty kick in the 70th minute that sailed high and over the goal.

The Lions closed out the scoring when they capitalized on another free kick by Monroe, which freshman Paige Vincent capitalized and fired a shot to the bottom right for her first collegiate goal in the 82nd minute.

A&M-Commerce goalkeepers Randi Hafele and Taylor Jordan kept the Tigers off the scoreboard, making three saves in the win and the shutout. It is the eighth shutout of the season for the Lions.

The Lions will close out the regular season on Friday against Central Oklahoma in Edmond at 4 p.m. and on Sunday at Southwestern Oklahoma State in Weatherford at noon.
