Lions' Soccer Falls to Central Oklahoma, 1-0


The Texas A&M University-Commerce women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to host Central Oklahoma on Friday afternoon at Wantland Stadium in Edmond, Oklahoma.

The Bronchos' (13-5-1, 7-2 LSC) Katelyn Cropp scored in the 119th minute as she found the back of the net from eight yards out following a pass from Summer Grantham for the game-winning goal.

A&M-Commerce (10-6-1, 5-3-1 LSC) challenged the league leaders throughout the contest, including a pair of shots in the final seconds of the opening half. With 18 seconds left in the first half, a shot by Megan Monroe hit the post and UCO goalkeeper Megan Riley saved a follow up attempt by Heather Cavey, six seconds later.

After a pair of shots by UCO early into the second half, Meagan Lasley had a shot that was saved and an attempt by Haley Mull was blocked. The Lions defense also rose to the occasion throughout the contest as goalkeeper Taylor Jordan had eight saves.

UCO out shot the Lions by a 10 to 5 margin in the second half and a 5 to 2 margin in the first overtime but both teams got off two shots in the second overtime including the game-winning shot by Cropp for the win.

Next, the Lions will wrap up the regular season on Sunday at 1 pm against host Southwestern Oklahoma State in Weatherford.
