A&M-Commerce Soccer Picked to Finish Seventh in the LSC
13th year head coach Neil Piper and the Texas A&M University-Commerce women's soccer team was picked to finish seventh in a Lone Star Conference preseason poll conducted by members of the media, head coaches and sports information directors announced on Tuesday.
A&M-Commerce has reached the Lone Star Conference for seven-consecutive seasons, entering the 2010 season with seven starters returning.
Top spot in the poll was a close decision as West Texas A&M picking up 20 first-place votes, followed by Central Oklahoma, who got nine first-place nods. Midwestern State was third, conference newcomer Incarnate Word was fourth. Abilene Christian and Texas Woman's were fifth and sixth, respectively ahead of the Lions.
Angelo State was ninth, Southwestern Oklahoma was 10th, Eastern New Mexico 11th, Northeastern State 12th and East Central was 13th to round out the poll.
The 2010 season for the Lions begins on Saturday, September 4th at 6 pm when they host Tusculum at the A&M-Commerce Soccer Complex.
