Lions' Randi Hafele and Chelsey Haight Earn Recognition from the Lone Star Conference
Texas A&M University-Commerce
soccer standouts senior Chelsey Haight and junior
Randi Hafele earned recognition from the Lone Star
Conference prior to the match on Wednesday against Texas
Woman’s.
Last week, Haight (above) scored both the game-winning
goals against Harding (Sept. 17) and against the Moccasins (Sept.
19) en route to being named the LSC Women’s Offensive Player
of the Week. For her career, the Granbury, Texas native has 10
game-winning goals. Haight also played a role in creating
opportunities for her teammates throughout the week, including
junior Devon Herrman, who scored a goal and assisted on
Haight’s goal against Harding.
Last week, Hafele (above) made a season-high eight saves
in the Lions’ 2-1 win over No. 12 Florida Southern on Sunday.
She overcame giving up her first goal of the season earlier in the
week in the loss to Dallas Baptist to record her third shutout of
the season with two saves in the 2-0 win over Harding on Sept. 17.
Her efforts earned the Friendswood, Texas native recognition as the
LSC Goalkeeper of the Week.
Both Haight and Hafele also played a significant role in
Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Texas Woman’s. Next up for
Haight, Hafele and the Lions is a trip to Florida, where they will
face Lenoir-Rhyne on Friday in Winter Haven at 6 pm and host
Rollins on Sunday at 1:30 pm. Lenoir-Rhyne is currently ranked
sixth in the latest NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Poll and
Rollins, who is ranked No. 6 overall in the NSCAA rankings.
