LIONS 2011-2012 WOMEN'S SOCCER SEASON RECAP
A&M-Commerce ends their season with a 8-9-2 record barely falling under .500 for only the second time in Coach Piper’s 14 year career. A&M-Commerce worked their way past the LSC Conference Championship Quarter Finals with an extremely young team, but falling in the LSC Conference Championship Semi-Finals, to the undefeated Wildcats of Abilene Christian 2-0.

MINDE NAMED DAKTRONICS SECOND TEAM ALL-SOUTH CENTRAL REGION
A&M-Commerce sophomore Brionna Minde has been named to the Daktronics Women's Soccer South Central Region Second Team, announced today. She becomes the first Lion to earn All-Region honors since teammate Devon Herrman picked up second team honors in 2009.

A&M-Commerce finished their season off with a tough loss to the undefeated Wildcats of Abilene Christian in the Semi-finals of the LSC Championship Tournament. This is the third game the Lions have lost to Abilene Christian this season.

LIONS WIN A THRILLING SHOOT-OUT OVER RAMBELLES IN LSC QUARTERFINAL
A&M-Commerce finished their first Conference Championship game in a thrilling shoot out victory over the Ram Belles of Angelo State University. This victory for the Lions has ended Angelo State’s season and defeated them for the third time this season. It will also launch the Lions into the semi-finals against Abilene Christian who are the number 1 seeded team.

LIONS GEAR UP FOR ANGELO STATE IN 2011 LSC CHAMPIONSHIP
The Lions have been placed as the 4th seed and they will take on 5th seeded Angelo State University in Abilene, Christian. The game will take place on November 3rd at 1:30 p.m. Whoever of the two wins this conference Tournament match will result in a match against top ranked seed Abilene Christian on their home field. When the Lions continue on they will face off against the number 1 seeded Abilene Christian on November 4th at 2:30 p.m.

LATE RALLY GIVES LIONS A 2-1 VICTORY AGAINST PIONEERS ON SENIOR NIGHT
A&M-Commerce settled for a tie earlier this season when they played the struggling Pioneers of Texas Woman’s University. Last time these two teams met, the Lions controlled most of the game until Katy Black got a penalty shot late in the game, which evened the score and ultimately resulted in a tie. The Lions came into the game with nothing to lose, but still fought to make sure they entered the tournament off a strong performance.

A&M-COMMERCE DROPS 2-0 DECISION TO SECOND-RANKED ABILENE CHRISTIAN
COMMERCE, TEXAS – A&M-Commerce faced off against powerhouse number two in the nation rival Abilene Christian and walked away with a 2-0 defeat. The offense was providing a challenge, but a costly yellow card and a mental mistake proved to be just a little too much to overcome.

LIONS FALL IN THE CLOSING MINUTES AGAINST THE MUSTANGS
COMMERCE, TEXAS – The Lions dropped another heart breaker in the final minutes against the Mustangs of Midwestern State University. Midwestern kept the pressure on the Lions defense for most of the night out shooting A&M-Commerce 14 to 7. With this loss the Lions fall down to fourth in the Lone Star Conference. A&M-Commerce’s overall record is 7-7-2 and they move to 5-5-2 in the Lone Star Conference.

LIONS LOOKING FOR BIG WINS ON HOMECOMING WEEKEND
Both times the Lion’s met the Mustangs and the Wildcats they faced tough 4-1 losses. The Lions gave the Mustangs a tough battle dominating most of the first half against the Mustangs, but inevitably could not score off their 9 shots. The Mustangs really came out swinging in the second half and dropped three goals against the Lions. Abilene Christian has been a powerhouse all season only tying one time and winning their other 13 contests. The last time the two teams played the Lions played on par with the Wildcats, A&M-Commerce had 7 shots on goal and Abilene Christian had 9 shots on goal. The Wildcats just happened to find the goal a few more times.

The Lions won off a 2 goal effort by Brionna Minde. Eastern New Mexico tied with the Lions earlier in the season off a last minute mental error giving up a goal with 2 minutes left.

Commerce, Texas –A&M-Commerce was looking to get back on the right track, and they did just that by sinking Angelo State 5-1. The Lions have now swept the season series with a total score of 8-3. The Lions have now put themselves back into 3rd place in the Lonestar Conference with this win.
