Portales, N.M. – Lions fall in second game of road trip and fall to .500 in conference play after a 1-0 defeat to Eastern New Mexico. Sophomore defender Victoria Perez headed in the only goal off a free kick on the 37th minute. With the loss the Lions fall back under .500 as they return home for the next five games on the schedule.

The Lions out shot the Zias throughout the game and two great chances right before the lone goal by Eastern when Brionna Minde had back-to-back shots turned away by Zia goaltender Xan Ortiz and one blocked by a defender. A&M-Commerce also had chances at the end of the first half when Callie Annett and Eva Brutto both had shots saved by Ortiz.

The second half was a back and fourth affair with both teams having chances but neither the Lions nor the Zias could tie game or provide insurance. Minde and Wright had chances earlier in the first half but Minde's header went over the crossbar and Wright was turned aside by Ortiz, recording six saves, as part of her shutout.

A&M-Commerce returns home for the next five games on the schedule, all of which are Lone Star Conference games. The Lions take on Angelo State on Friday September 21 at Lion Soccer Field with game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
