ABILENE, Texas – Two first half goals prove enough as Abilene Christian holds off A&M-Commerce by the score of 2-1 at the Wildcat Soccer Pitch Friday afternoon.
Abilene Christian stroke early when Andrea Carpenter scored in the third minute when her own rebound redirected off her leg and into the goal for a 1-0 Wildcats lead. Five minutes later Stephanie Neeley had a shot blocked by a defender. In the 19th minute Neeley had another chance off a feed from Anitra Wright but pushed the shot wide. Wright tried to tie the game up but her shot from outside the 18-yard box was wide left as well.
The Wildcats pushed the lead to 2-0, with a goal by Julie Coppedge, her fifth of the season. Allie Burks had a chance to cut into the lead but her header went over the cross bar. Carpenter had a chance to add her total but was wide right.

Wright had another chance just three minutes later and missed it just high. The Lions got a corner in the 50th minute and scored off the corner kick to cut the lead to one at 2-1, ACU.
