Saturday October 27 – 7:30 p.m.
Denton, Texas – Texas Woman's University
Lions close out season in Denton to take on Texas Woman's trying to avoid a 10 loss season first the since 2007.
Recapping last week's action
The Lions traveled to Abilene Christian and Midwestern State last week. With losses in both games the Lions will not make the Lone Star Conference tournament since 2002. The Lions dropped a 2-1 game in Abilene where they controlled the ball in the second half after Brionna Minde put in a corner kick. The Lions however were unable to tie the game and put themselves into must win mode against MSU. A&M-Commerce had their chances to score but the bounces did not go their way. Anitra Wright his the post in the first half but the Lions surrendered three in the second half to fall to the Mustangs.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
The Pioneers have secured a spot in the Lone Star Conference tournament already but will look to go into the event on a positive note when they take on the Lions and avenge a 3-2 OT defeat the Lions handed them in Commerce earlier this month. The Pioneers will look to break a tie with Abilene Christian for fifth and try to avoid West Texas in the first round with a win on Friday. Brittany Martin (#21) leads TWU in points on the season with 23. She also leads the team in goals with 10. Katy Black (#8) leads the Pioneers with five assists on the season.
