A&M-COMMERCE POSTS ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL SATURDAY AT BISON OPEN

2012 Oklahoma Baptist Bison Open Final Results (PDF)
SHAWNEE, Okla. -- A&M-Commerce continued the midway point of its 2012 track and field season with a strong showing at the Oklahoma Baptist Bison Open. 10 different Lions finished among the top-five in their respective events, including three first-place finishes on the afternoon.
Aysha Moultrie highlighted the sprint events for the Lion women, placing first in the 200 meter dash with a season-low time of 24.97, as she would also place fifth in the javelin (33.02 meters) and ninth in the high jump (1.40 meters). Angela Reed notched a runner-up finish in the 100 meter dash, tying the A&M-Commerce with a season-low performance of 12.30 with teammate Jakesia King placing third (12.43). Crystal Harris notched a fourth-place finish in the 100 meter hurdles (15.44), rounding out the top-five finishers among the Lion sprinters.
Jennifer Speer was the Lions' top distance runner as she was the first A&M-Commerce runner to cross the finish line in both the 800 and 1500 meter runs. Speer placed 19th in the 800 meter (2:39.64) before notching a seventh-place showing in the 1500 meter (5:14.56).
A&M-Commerce's field athletes had another successful showing as well, led by first-place finishes by Whitney Hargraves in the long jump (5.33 meters) and Tierra Hill in the triple jump (11.36 meters). Hill also placed fourth in the long jump (5.09 meters) with Desiree Spencer placing fourth in the triple jump. Ashley Ross rounded out the top-five performances for A&M-Commerce, placing third in the discus (42.86 meters).
Up next for A&M-Commerce is a trip across the 380 to Denton, competing in the North Texas Mean Green Twilight this coming Saturday, April 7. Competiton gets underway Saturday afternoon, with full results being posted as they become available at LionAthletics.com.
