THREE LIONS SELECTED FOR 2013 NCAA DIVISION II NATIONALS
COMMERCE, Texas –- Three Lion student-athletes were selected to the NCAA Division II National Championships meet this morning by the NCAA. Dakota Fountain will be competing in the long jump, Vanessa Jackson in the 400 meter run and Ashley Ross will represent A&M-Commerce in the discus. This will mark the first male qualifier since 2010 and the fourth-straight season a female track and field athlete has qualified for the Lions.

ROSS RECORDS TWO TOP FIVE’S AS WOMEN FINISH NINTH
Canyon, Texas – Ashley Ross recorded top five finishes in the discus and the hammer events. Ross along with Abigail Leaupepe-Tele and Kabrina Hartfield scored 16 of the 24 points the Lions scored as a team in the field events.

ROSS AND LEAUPEPE-TELE POST TOP FIVE'S ON DAY TWO OF ACTION
The second day of competition brought the preliminaries for most of the running events and the finals for the steeplechase, 10,000m and some field events. The Lions placed multiple athletes in the finals of their respective disciplines and saw a few Lions crack the podium.

LIONS HEAD TO CANYON FOR LSC CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Lion men and women track and field teams will travel to West Texas A&M this weekend to take part in the Lone Star Conference Championship. The Lion men will look to improve on last season’s sixth place finish as the women look to improve on their seventh place finish from one season ago.

BAILEY AND JACKSON SET NEW SCHOOL RECORDS IN 400 AND 800M
San Marcos, Texas – Vanessa Jackson put her name in the A&M-Commerce record books with a new school record in the 400m dash (55.35). Brikel Bailey did it again on Saturday at the 2013 Bobcat Classic setting a new school record in the 800m (2:15.22). She broke her own record that she set earlier this season.

ROSS AND HANNA 1,2 IN DISCUS AND RICH WINS JAVELIN
Shawnee, Okla.- Ashley Ross and Taney Hanna finished first and second in the discus for the Lion women at the Mt. SAC Relays. Matt Rich recorded the victory in the Javelin throw for the win by more then three meters in front of second place.

MEN RECORD EIGHT OVERALL WINS; WOMEN RECORD SEVEN AT HOME
Commerce, Texas – The Lions as a team won 15 events overall at the East Texas Invitational on Saturday at memorial stadium. The 15 is the most events won by the combined teams so far this season.

A&M-COMMERCE SET TO HOST EAST TEXAS INVITATIONAL THIS WEEKEND
COMMERCE, Texas – The Texas A&M University-Commerce men’s and women’s track and field teams return home this weekend, hosting the East Texas Invitational at Memorial Stadium.

BAILEY AND FOUNTAIN SHINE AT NORTH TEXAS CLASSIC
Denton, Texas –Junior sprinter Brikel Bailey set a new school record in the 800m dash with a 2:17.71 to finish fifth in race. Dakota Fountain was not going to be outdone in the Long Jump posting a 24’7” jump that put atop the Division II standings.

ROSS WINS DISCUS AND HARRIS POSTS TWO SECONDS PLACE FINISHES
Shawnee, Okla. – The Lion men and women track and field teams competed at the Bison Open hosted by Oklahoma Baptist. Both teams recorded multiple top three finishes.

MEN AND WOMEN RECORD MULTIPLE TOP TEN’S
Arlington, Texas – The women’s team had four top ten finishes on the track and two in the field events. The men’s team had seven top ten finishes on the track and three finishes in the field events.

LION MEN SECOND, WOMEN FIFTH AT TARLETON INVITATIONAL
Both of the A&M-Commerce track and field teams posted top five finishes as teams in Stephenville with the men finishing second among 13 teams and the women fifth among 15 teams.

LIONS SHOW WELL AT SEASON OPENING LION SPRING INVITATIONAL
Commerce, Texas – The A&M-Commerce women track and field team opened up the season with an great showing at the Lion Spring Invitational. The Lions recorded numerous finishes in the top three of each heat of events throughout the day.

TRACK AND FIELD SEASON OPENS WITH LION SPRING INVITATIONAL SATURDAY
COMMERCE, Texas -- The 2013 A&M-Commerce track and field season gets underway this weekend as the Lions will take to the track at Memorial Stadium, hosting the Lion Spring Invitational. Field events kick off the day, getting underway at 10 a.m., followed by the running events beginning at 12:30 p.m.

A&M-COMMERCE RELEASES 2013 TRACK AND FIELD SCHEDULE
COMMERCE, Texas – A&M-Commerce today announced the 2013 Lion men’s and women’s track and field schedules, which get underway the first weekend in March. Three home events highlight the 2013 slate, including a handful of challenging meets as A&M-Commerce sets its sights on the 2013 Lone Star Conference Championships in May.
