Texas A&M-Commerce Falls to SOSU in Finale of A&M-Commerce Tournament

Southeastern Oklahoma State went undefeated through the Texas A&M University-Commerce volleyball tournament and claimed first place with a 25-22, 25-18, 25-17 victory over the Lions in the final match of the tourney.

Senior Brittany Williams led the way for the Lions with nine kills and 13 digs. Junior Lauren Flynn recorded 13 digs and junior Perla Faudoa added 26 assists.

Rachel Lance and Morgan Ballard chipped in seven kills each and Amy Addsion tallied five for the Lions. Lance also added a block for the Lions, who went 2-1 in the two-day tournament.

With the first set tied at 19 apiece, the Savage Storm rolled off three straight points before closing out on a 6-3 run. Jordan Parks sparked the run with two kills and finished the set with three kills, one dig and one block to lead SOSU.

Southeastern Oklahoma State (3-0) jumped out to an early lead on the Lions in both the second and third sets and A&M-Commerce was never able to recuperate.

Lunden Azuara led the Savage Storm with nine kills, six digs and one block. Three players collected seven kills and Raelynn Beaty finished with a game-high 14 digs.

The Lions travel to play Wayne State (Neb.) in the SBU Tournament on Friday at 1:30 p.m., followed by a 6:30 p.m. matchup against Missouri S&T in Bolivar, Mo.
