Flynn sets A&M-Commerce career digs mark in Lions' 3-0 loss to West Texas A&M

Junior Lauren Flynn set a career digs record for Texas A&M University-Commerce, but Melissa Harper charged West Texas A&M with 16 kills to lead the Lady Buffs past the Lions, 25-18, 25-22, 25-19, on Saturday afternoon in Canyon.
It was just a good opportunity for us to play against a high level opponent to see where we are at and see what we need to work on,” said Lions head volleyball coach Mark Pryor.
West Texas A&M improved to 20-3 overall and 4-0 in the Lone Star Conference, while the Lions fell to 12-7 and 4-2.
Flynn finished the match with 15 digs and upped her career total to 1,655, moving past Sara Wedberg (1,643) into the No. 1 spot in the A&M-Commerce record books.
“It’s good to see Lauren break the record and I look forward to her playing like that for the rest of her career.”
Amy Addison collected eight kills and Terra Ousley and Morgan Ballard followed with seven apiece to lead the Lions. Ousley and Ballard also added three blocks each and Perla Faudoa contributed 31 assists.
A&M-Commerce held the Lady Buffs to a .198 hitting percentage, but couldn’t take advantage offensively hitting only .121.
Laura Prinsen joined Harper in double digit kills with 12 and Sara Contreras tallied 19 digs to pace West Texas A&M. The Lady Buffs also snapped A&M-Commerce’s season-long four game winning streak.
The Lions return home and look to start another streak on Thursday against Abilene Christian at 7 p.m. in the A&M-Commerce Field House.
