Texas A&M-Commerce volleyball downs Ouachita Baptist, 3-1

The Texas A&M University-Commerce volleyball team finished with a .351 hitting percentage and three players recorded double digit kills to lead the Lions past Ouachita Baptist, 23-25, 27-25, 25-18, 25-21, on Friday night in Arkadelphia, Ark.
Alyssa Oberle led the way for A&M-Commerce totaling 16 kills, four service aces and seven digs. Morgan Ballard slammed 14 kills with a .667 hitting percentage and Rachel Lance added 11 kills. Perla Faudoa totaled 53 assists, Lauren Flynn chipped in 23 digs and Amy Addison followed with 20. Addison also collected nine kills.
After dropping the first set, the Lions bounced back and took the next three by a combined 13 points to improve to 10-6 for the season, while Ouachita Baptist fell to 4-16. The 10 wins are more than A&M-Commerce had in all of 2007.
Libby Merritt paced the Tigers with a game-high 24 kills. Meredith Henry hit 13 kills, Kaitlyn Mithcam notched 11 and four players tallied double digit digs for Ouachita Baptist.
The Lions return to action at 10 a.m. tomorrow against Henderson State in Arkadelphia, Ark.
