Oberle, Addison lead A&M-Commerce volleyball past Eastern New Mexico, 3-1

Box Score vs. Eastern New Mexico
Alyssa Oberle and Amy Addison both collected double-doubles to lead the Texas A&M University-Commerce Lions past the Eastern New Mexico Zias, 26-28, 25-16, 25-19, 25-21, in Lone Star Conference action on Thursday night in Portales, N.M.
The Lions improved to 12-6 overall and 4-1 in LSC play, while the Zias fell to 6-17 and 0-3.
"We survived and I'm very pleased with that," said Lions head volleyball coach Mark Pryor. "I'm pleased with our overall effort."
Alyssa Oberle recorded 18 kills and 11 digs, Amy Addison totaled 11 kills and 10 digs and Lauren Flynn inched closer to the No. 1 spot in the A&M-Commerce record books with 26 digs. With 374 for the season, Flynn has jumped her career digs total to 1,640 and sits four away from breaking Sara Wedberg's all-time mark of 1,643.
Despite falling behind early in matches and playing with only eight players, the Lions have reeled off a season-best four game winning streak.
"We have some kids that are nicked up with some minor injuries; however, since we only have eight players, there are no minor injuries," said Pryor.
Dealing with injuries and another early deficit against Eastern New Mexico, the Lions set the tone for the rest of the match and didn't trail again until early in the final set. A&M-Commerce has now lost the opening game in its last nine matches, but have countered to win seven, including the last four.
"That's still a concern we're trying to fix," said Pryor.
Morgan Ballard helped the Lions with nine kills and a .333 hitting percentage, Perla Faudoa tallied 40 assists and A&M-Commerce held the Zias to a .185 hitting percentage.
Eastern New Mexico was led by Megan Weitz, who finished with 14 kills. Sarah Koch and Jessica King chipped in 12 and Veronica Valdez added 11.
The Lions travel to Canyon, Texas for their next matchup against West Texas A&M on Saturday at 2 p.m.
