Lions garner awards from Lone Star Conference

Texas A&M University-Commerce
juniors Lauren Flynn and Perla
Faudoa, and sophomore Morgan Ballard each
garnered Lone Star Conference honors at a banquet prior to the LSC
Tournament in Canyon, Texas, league officials announced.
Flynn, who has totaled 565 digs and is averaging an LSC-best 5.82
digs per set this season, shared Libero of the Year recognition
with West Texas A&M’s Sara Contreras, and was also named
second-team all-LSC for her efforts. Earlier this season, Flynn
became the all-time career digs leader at A&M-Commerce after
passing Sara Wedberg’s 1,643 digs, and currently sits at
1,831 for her career. The Deer Park, Texas native was named LSC
Defensive Player of the Week four times this year, as well.
Faudoa and Ballard also earned second-team all-LSC honors and
represented A&M-Commerce at the setter and middle blocker
position. With 917 assists and 9.55 assists per set, Faudoa
finished the regular season ranked No. 4 in the LSC in assists. She
also grabbed her first LSC Setter of the Week award earlier this
year after totaling 156 assists in the 2008 Harding Classic
volleyball tournament.
Ballard has slammed 227 kills this season with a .339 hitting percentage, which ranks second in the LSC. She is averaging 2.36 kills per set and has totaled 47 blocks as well.
Flynn, Faudoa and Ballard each
helped lead A&M-Commerce to its best regular season since 2002,
finishing above .500 in both their overall and conference
records. At 15-11 and 7-6, the Lions advanced to the LSC
Tourney for the first time since the 2002, when the team finished
23-14 and 7-4.
Four Lions also represented the Lions in the LSC with their
academic achievements. Flynn, junior Amy Addison
and sophomores Rachel Lance and Terra
Ousley were all named to the LSC Commissioner’s
Honor Roll for their performance in the classroom and on the
court.
