Faudoa, Flynn earn LSC weekly honors

Texas A&M University-Commerce juniors Lauren Flynn and Perla Faudoa garnered weekly honors from the Lone Star Conference after helping the Lions post a 3-1 record at the 2008 Harding Classic volleyball tournament last weekend.
Flynn recorded 96 digs over four games and earned Co-LSC Defensive Player of the Week honors for her performance. This is the second straight week she has earned the award and fifth time of her career. Flynn has totaled 225 digs for the season and now has 1,491 digs for her career; needing just 153 more to take over the No. 1 spot in the A&M-Commerce record books. She currently ranks sixth in the nation and first in the LSC with 5.77 digs per set.
Faudoa averaged 10.40 assists per set over the weekend and won a share of the first LSC Setter of the Week award of her career. She totaled 156 assists and had zero ball handling errors in the two-day event. Faudoa’s nine assists per set for the season ranks 67th in Division II and No. 4 in the LSC and has helped the Lions rank third in the conference with a .240 hitting percentage.
A&M-Commerce opened the tournament with three straight victories over Ouachita Baptist, Arkansas-Monticello and Henderson State before falling to tournament host Harding in the finale.
The Lions raised their record to 6-5 over the weekend and head into their Lone Star Conference opener on Thursday against Southeastern Oklahoma State at 7 p.m. in Durant, Okla.
