Lauren Flynn Named LSC Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Texas A&M University-Commerce senior libero Lauren Flynn earned another Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week Award and her first of 2009 on Tuesday.

The senior from Deer Park, Texas was an integral part of the Lions starting the season with a 2-1 mark. Flynn started the season with two service aces and 15 digs in a straight-set win over Southern Arkansas. In the Lions' second match of the day, she recorded 27 digs in a four-set loss to St. Edward's before concluding the day with an 18-dig effort against New Mexico Highlands in another straight-set win for A&M-Commerce. She averaged six digs per set on the weekend.

It is the eighth time in her career that Flynn has earned weekly recognition from the Lone Star Conference. Also earning weekly recognition were Destiny Brown of Southeastern Oklahoma and Laura Prinsen of West Texas A&M for offensive player of the week, Katie Rickwartz of West Texas A&M and Alex Woosley of Angelo State for setter of the week and Megan Kimak of East Central along with Flynn for defensive player of the week.

Flynn and A&M-Commerce return to action on Friday at the Comfort Innvitational in Maryville, Missouri on the campus of Northwest Missouri State. The Lions will face Minnesota State-Moorehead at 12:15 pm and Quincy at 4:45 pm on Friday and Newman at 10 am and host Northwest Missouri State at 2:15 pm on Saturday.
