Lions Extend Winning Streak to Five in a Row

With 22 kills from junior Naomi Mays and 10 more from Rachel Robertson (pictured), the Texas A&M University-Commerce volleyball team posted a 24-26, 25-18, 29-27, 25-19 victory over host Dallas Baptist on Friday.

A&M-Commerce (9-3) senior setter Perla Faudoa added 47 assists and senior Lauren Flynn had 27 digs and the Lions frontline posted season-high 10 blocks. Mays, Robertson and junior Terra Ousley each had two block solos and two block assists in the win.

Dallas Baptist had three players with double-digit kills as Kaylyn Frink paced the Patriots attack with a team-high 15. Lauren Zegarelli and Kristin Secord, who added 13 and 11 kills, respectively, joined her.

The Lions dropped the opening set by a close 26-24 margin; however, they managed to out hit DBU by a .130 to .062 margin. A&M-Commerce came back to win the second set as they posted a 25-18 victory. Mays led the attack with five kills, senior Amy Addison added three kills and a team-high six digs. In the third set, Mays, Robertson and Ousley each posted a block solo and Mays continued to have the hot swing as she recorded nine kills and also posted a block solo; plus, Flynn came up with 10 digs. In the decisive fourth set, Mays and Robertson each had four kills and Flynn added six more digs and freshman Reagan Hayes had five of her 16 digs.

The Lions will close out the stretch of seven matches in five days when they will play Southern Arkansas on Saturday at 11 am and Southwest Baptist at 5 pm.
