WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Paced by Carolyn Bell's 11th-place finish, Texas A&M University-Commerce placed fourth at the Midwestern State Stampede in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Bell was the top Lion finisher at the event, completing the 4K race with a time of 15:36. She was joined in the top-20 by newcomer Maci Tyndell, who placed 18th with a 15:54 showing. Brooke Farris and Jennifer Speer each represented the Lions among the top-30 finishers as Farris placed 26th (16:31), just ahead of Speer who checked in at 29th (16:42).
Caroline Cotsakis just missed cracking the top-30, placing 31st with a time of 16:48 in her first meet for A&M-Commerce. Audrie Vela (17:52) and Kendall Christmas (18:27) rounded out the competitors for the Lions.
With the season-opening race in the books, A&M-Commerce will have some time to build on what was learned in Wichita Falls. The Lions return to the course on Saturday, Sept. 17, traveling to Joplin, Mo., to compete in the Missouri Southern Stampede.
